Rainier Meadows
Hike up Mt. Rainier on a summer afternoon. The peak rises 14,000+ feet near the Washington Cascades. The famous mountain can be seen on clear days from Seattle and the surrounding suburbs. During the summer, wildflowers turn the meadows into vibrant mixtures of colors from Mountain Paintbrush, Lupines and dozens of other species. From just above the Alta Vista viewpoint, hikers can see Mt. Adamas, Mt. Hood in Oregon and the crater-topped Mt. Saint Helens.
